Ashley S. Pickard, MS, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
& TRE Certified Provider
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in both Florida and California. I offer in-person therapy in Tallahassee, Florida, as well as telehealth sessions throughout both Florida and California.
Over the years, I have discovered that my greatest passion is helping people move beyond simply understanding why they feel the way they do and begin experiencing lasting healing. Many of the clients I work with have been to therapy before. They have gained insight, talked through their stories, and understand their patterns, yet they still feel stuck. My work is rooted in helping people reconnect with their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, and heal on a deeper level.
My approach is grounded in somatic therapy, EMDR, and nervous system regulation. Healing happens when we include both the mind and the body in the therapeutic process. Whether you are struggling with trauma, anxiety, chronic stress, chronic pain, life transitions, or relationship difficulties, my goal is to create a safe, compassionate space where healing can unfold naturally and at a pace that feels right for you.
I earned my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, East Bay, and have been practicing since 2013. Throughout my career, I have worked with survivors of sexual assault, individuals experiencing homelessness, families experiencing conflict, and adults navigating trauma, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, shame, low self-esteem, and major life transitions. These experiences have shaped the therapist I am today and deepened my respect for the resilience of the human spirit.
In addition to my clinical work, I am passionate about educating our community about nervous system regulation. I regularly teach workshops and trainings for therapists, healthcare professionals, first responders, law enforcement, educators, and community members who want to better understand the connection between the brain, body, and nervous system. I believe these skills have the power to transform lives, and I am committed to making them accessible to as many people as possible.
I am also a Certified TRE® Provider (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) and have completed EMDR training through an EMDRIA Approved Training program. I began practicing TRE in 2002 and became certified in 2017 after experiencing the profound impact it had on my own life. Today, I integrate both TRE and EMDR into my clinical work when appropriate. As a TRE® community educator in Tallahassee, I teach workshops and trainings that help individuals, therapists, healthcare professionals, first responders, law enforcement, and other community members learn practical nervous system regulation skills they can continue using long after the training has ended. My goal is to make these powerful tools accessible to as many people as possible.
My work is deeply rooted in authenticity, intuition, and trust in each person's capacity to heal. One of my greatest hopes for every client is that they leave therapy feeling more connected to themselves, more confident in their inner wisdom, and better equipped to navigate life's challenges with resilience and self-compassion.
Lastly, there are many paths to healing. One that has been personally meaningful for me is plant medicine. While this path is not for everyone, I offer compassionate, nonjudgmental support to individuals seeking to integrate these experiences into their healing journey.
