somatic therapy
Many of the clients I work with have been to therapy before. They have talked through their stories, gained insight into their past, and understand why they feel the way they do. Yet despite all of that understanding, they still find themselves feeling anxious, overwhelmed, emotionally reactive, or stuck in the same patterns. If you feel like you have already talked it all out but still have not experienced the healing you are looking for, you are not alone.
Healing happens when we include both the mind and the body in the therapeutic process. While talking about your experiences is important, lasting change often requires helping the nervous system move out of survival mode and into a state of safety and regulation.
In our work together, I use somatic interventions such as breathwork, grounding, body awareness, orienting, pendulation, mindfulness, and movement to help your body complete unresolved stress responses. As your nervous system becomes more regulated, you may experience less anxiety, greater emotional balance, reduced physical tension, and an increased ability to respond to life's challenges with calm and resilience.
Eye movement desensitization REPROCESSING (emdr)
EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. Ongoing research supports positive clinical outcomes showing EMDR therapy as a helpful treatment for disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences. - EMDR International Association.

Trauma & Tension Releasing EXERCISES (TRE)
Trauma and Tension Releasing Exercises (or TRE®) is a simple yet innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and trauma. Created by Dr. David Berceli, Ph.D., TRE safely activates a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. When this muscular shaking/vibrating mechanism is activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return to a state of balance.
